Cultural Essence

Shenzhen transformed from a fishing village of 30,000 people to a megacity of 17 million in just 40 years — the most rapid urban transformation in human history. It is China's technology capital, home to Huawei, Tencent, and DJI, yet also preserves surprising pockets of natural beauty along its tropical coastline.

About This Place

The world's fourth-tallest building at 599 meters, with an observation deck on the 116th floor at 541 meters — the highest observation deck in any building globally. The tower's sleek, modern design incorporates a tuned mass damper that reduces sway by 35%, visible to visitors. It represents Shenzhen's emergence as a global financial and technology center.

Insider Tip

Book tickets online at least one day in advance — they often sell out on weekends. The tuned mass damper at the top is a 1,000-ton steel pendulum that you can see from the observation deck. Come just before sunset to watch the city light up. The view of Hong Kong across the bay is clearest on clear winter days.

Must Do

See the tuned mass damper — one of the largest in the world. Watch sunset over the Pearl River Delta. On clear days, spot Hong Kong's skyline 30km away. Ride the world's fastest elevator bank (10m/s).
